10 Things I Like About 2010

2010 ain't as grand as 2009. Last year I worked overseas, backpacked in 9 countries (did my first long term travel too), got hitched, and honeymooned during winter. This year isn't so bad as well. I may have only traveled a few times, but these trips were done either while I was pregnant or with our newborn in tow - which for me, a once carefree drifter, are such amazing feats!

With my newborn in Tam-Awan Village Baguio City, a minute away from my nomadic family's first home. Moving in's one of this year's highlights.

Hereunder are the top 10 things I like about 2010...

Snapshot Saturday: Travel Tragedy on Christmas Day

A hair-raising Christmas memory.

Four Christmases ago, a trip from Tarlac to Manila almost took my life. This Christmas, I raise my shot of Caramel Mudslide to my second life and all its crazy adventures.

How about you? What are you grateful for this year?

Snapshot Saturday: Giant Santa

SM Baguio's current main attraction.

One more week before Christmas and I haven't done any shopping yet. What I have done is book flights on sale for 2011's first quarter!

TreeTop Adventure Baguio: A Zip Above Pine Trees

Is not quite a walk in the park. It requires guts, money as well. And a drive to Baguio. TreeTop Adventure in Camp John Hay finally opened last November 30. Will this make Baguio City more overrated?

I say it's a reason for thrill-seekers to make the city a short stop en route to their more remote northern destinations. Soaring above and within eerie fogginess can be quite an exhilarating ride.

Hold your breath for a bird's eye view of Baguio's remaining greenness. Yes, it still exists.

Snapshot Saturday: The Wall and The Shoelace

Still can't believe I tied my shoelaces on a historic wall!

While the above caption may not seem to make sense, I'd like to stress how difficult it was to take my foot off that handrail. I froze as a gush of winter wind swept past.

Planning to see the Great Wall of China? Read this to decide whether to join a group tour or not.

Video: Casaroro Falls

An insane habal-habal ride is definitely worth this!

One fine early afternoon in Valencia, Negros Oriental. Great picnic company consisted of local folks snacking on chips and intercontinental acquaintances gobbling dried mangoes.

Snapshot Saturday: Island Romance

"As the ocean is never full of water, so is the heart never full of love." -Anonymous

With this gorgeous sunset, who wouldn't fall in love?

Nope, that ain't me and hubby. This is a snapshot of Amir and his girlfriend who started steadily dating after their Magalawa Island weekend getaway. Neither is a friend of mine, in fact they're a couple of strangers to me.

Casaroro Falls

I swallowed hard. It's going to be one tough ride. Amidst the pandemonium of habal-habal drivers offering tours in our faces, I was fidgety and dazed. I was never comfortable journeying aboard motorcycles, let alone riding it with another passenger aside from the driver on an unpaved road and two months pregnant.

Nevertheless I was determined to do so, with a hesitant go signal from my husband who shared a habal-habal with me. We made sure our driver knows the consequences if something terrible happens to us.

Mighty Casaroro Falls.
