How Vegas Celebrates The Festivities

It is difficult to find anyone who does not enjoy Christmas time, with the festive period being the best-loved holiday of them all. Everyone has their own way of celebrating, be it spending the day at home with their loved ones or jet setting off to sunnier climates. But it isn’t only people who have their yuletide traditions, as countries and cities around the world welcome Christmas in a variety of different cultural ways.

Las Vegas is one city that certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to the holidays. Ladbrokes Casino found that on Christmas Vegas can make up to £11 million in one day, or 283,898 real Nordmann Fir Christmas trees.

The Ice Rink at The Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan truly bring some Christmas spirit to their hotel by turning the Boulevard Pool into a majestic ice rink. Standing at 4200 square feet in size, the rink is made from real ice and has snow blasters firing flakes into the sky to make it feel like you are skating around in the North Pole. The rink offers themed nights for visitors to get into the party mood, ranging from the disco era of the 1970’s to the electronic-leg-warmer 1980’s. As well as the skating, the hotel also has festive cocktails and delicacies and cinema showings where you can watch your favourite Christmas films.

The Fountains at the Bellagio

The Bellagio’s Fountains are one of the most iconic features Las Vegas has to offer, with thousands of tourists flocking to see them in action whilst visiting the city. But when Christmas is upon us, the Fountains engross themselves in the yuletide atmosphere and take their performance up to the next level. As well as undertaking their usual routine to songs such as Singin’ in the Rain, Con Te Partiro and Big Spender, the water feature hits up some of the all-time Christmas classics. As the Fountains jive to The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and Santa Baby, on-lookers can truly get in the festive mood by having a bit of a sing-a-long.

Terry Fator: A Country Christmas

With a three-week residency at the Mirage Hotel and Casino, Terry Fator brings his own version of the festive spirit to the Vegas Strip. After winning the second season of Americas Got Talent, Fator and his band of puppets take on Christmas classics such as Silent Night and Winter Wonderland, as well as doing special duets with the legendary Bing Crosby and doing incredible impressions of Aretha Franklin and many more. The show follows the yuletide journey of fictional country star Walter T. Airedale and his pursuit of the celebrations in Las Vegas.

Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden

If you are a fan of spectacular Christmas lights shows, then head down to the Ethel M Chocolate Factory. Not only do they have enough lights to brighten up their factory and Cactus Garden, their 500,000 plus lights could illuminate the entire Strip! The factory also offers festive chocolates, a trip into Santa’s Grotto and a whole host of Christmas activities in the exhibition centre. Although you do need to book in advance for the tickets.
