Rainy Day Getaway Giveaway

Okay, it ain’t the getaway you have in mind. Maybe it shouldn’t be called a getaway at all.

But hey, we’re talking about the Philippines’ rainy season here. And like me, perhaps you’re not game for the outdoors because you’d rather surf the channels on cable and ‘swim in a deep sea of blankets’. If there’s one trip you gotta take, it’s a trip to the grocery store because you’re running low on instant champorado and tuyo.

1) The Philippines: Islands Of Enchantment book, 2) Pink Manila overnight stay in a private room for two.

So the two prizes for this giveaway are all about the great indoors:

One (1) winner of *The Philippines: Islands Of Enchantment coffee table book. Text by Alfred A. Yuson and snapshots by George Tapan. Curl up with this book and plot your next adventure!

Had the rare opportunity of traveling with multi-awarded photographer George Tapan in Mindanao last July, as part of the Allah Valley Tour organized by AVLDA – LGSP LED. Wish I had this autographed but even George himself said, “Na-excess baggage ako sa mabibigat kong libro!”. Isn’t he adorable?!

Talented, humble and charming. Not me. Sir George Tapan is.

One (1) winner of an *overnight stay for two in a private room at Pink Manila Hostel. The closest you could get to the vibrant Khao San Road or Pub Street atmosphere without the turbulent rainy day plane ride. Maybe it ain’t a 5-star accommodation, and maybe the only stars you’ll see are the ones spinning above your head when you’ve had too many bottles of beer, but you are still guaranteed a stellar experience. Just remember to let your guard down.

*Winner must book a week in advance. Prize is transferrable. Read review here.

  1. I’m kinda weird but I love spending rainy days in a public beach in our town named Tingko. I feel like I own the beach because I usually end up the only one swimming and enjoying it. 🙂

  2. my family usually go to baguio or tagaytay, during the rainy season is the only time where my husband is in vacation..

  3. Tagaytay, because there are still alot of things to do and see even if it’s raining. We can dine in any restaurant with the view of the volcano.

  4. We love to travel South of Cebu specifically in my hometown, Alcoy, Cebu. We could either spend it at the beach alone or in the cold spring near our place.

  5. Oh my! Namiss ko bigla ang hot spring resorts sa Laguna. Last I went was for my debut. Tagal naaa! LOL.

  6. Just at home. Especially if the rains are similar to the Maring-esque and Habagat-like torrents we experienced recently. Nooks and crannies and old stuff packed away make up for great travels down memory lane. ;P

That or Tagaytay to freeze and then thaw with some Starbucks and Merben’s good ‘ol bulalo. 🙂

  7. rainy days = me usually just at home curled up in bed. but, if given the chance, i would love to get out of the house and see the world, if not our country. in the past i would have road trips with my family, drive to tagaytay or baguio, or sometimes we go abroad. this year, CDO. an attempt at being outdoorsy 🙂

  8. Cancelled our Caramoan getaway for Baba’s birthday last weekend and settled for a nice hotel nearby due to potential bad weather here in Bicol. It’s been years since he last celebrated his bday here in the Ph, and it felt good spending it with just us 3 holed up in comfy bed, surfing channels, wrestling and tickling our boy.

  9. Rainy days meant traveling back to my hometown Davao where the sun shines more and the flood is tolerable 🙂 this also meant eating more soup-y food and experimenting in the kitchen with hubby 🙂

  10. Tagaytay’s ambience is perfect! We (boyfriend and I) don’t mind staying too long indoors as long as we have a trusty Internet connection and a good book to read. Right now, he reads a book about Steve Jobs while I busy myself with George R. R. Martin’s A Feast for Crows.

  11. Tacloban and Biliran are asteeeg! We will check Dumaguete and Siquijor next weekend. We’ll see if it’s goin’ to be as astig as Tacloban’s and Biliran’s. m/

  12. I feel like I’ve to go on a dating spree, but wait – a comfy bed at Pink Manila Hostel and a Coffee Book is also a welcome addition, that and a new religion too.

  13. I rarely travel when its rainy! Its the season where I just stay at home and the oonly destination I frequent is the bathroom- my room. lol

ps; I want the book! Dbale na d ako makuha sa overnight stay. (Ang layo ko din haha)

  14. we go to laguna to swim while it’s raining because I could not do it in manila hehe it brings back my childhood memories

  15. I travel to the malls LOL (looking for bargains, of course). Seriously, I prefer to stay at home and read books or surf the net. Mahirap magtravel pag maulan, slippery roads, landslides, etc. 🙂

  16. When rainy season I usually stayed at Home and enjoy my cup of tea or i’ll try to be pro-active on the couchsurfing outreach, here in Cebu, CS feeding of arroz caldo for street children.
