Reeling from lack of rest over the past 14 hours (an intercontinental flight, a restaurant visit for a review — which was really more like a drinking spree than a degustation — that lasted until past four in the morn, an hour of sleep, and a battle with EDSA’s morning rush hour traffic), I wearily dragged my feet up the steps to Microtel Inn & Suites’ conference room. As I approached the registration table for the Bonamine Travel Bloggers Conference, I chuckled to myself, remembering a very random question I asked my company after my second cocktail (which followed after some beers) at the restaurant the night before: “You reckon it can cure my hangover too?”
“There’s only one way to find out”, they said.
No. I didn’t conduct an experiment. Although seeing familiar, fellow travel junkies from the blogging community as I stepped in the room instantaneously wiped out the hangover. Also, seeing the tinapa (smoked fish) on the buffet spread was enough to wake this balikbayan up. Yes, the socials happened first. And that’s how you break the morning ice.
The event, hosted by Ms. Regine Tolentino, was a merry mishmash of informative talks (by Country Head and Regional Director for SEA Commercial Operations of Taisho Pharmaceuticals Phils. Mr. Tito Tolentino, Brand Manager of Bonamine Philippines Ms. Lovelea Dungca, Larisa Lim and travel blogger/photographer Ferdz Decena) and games and more eating… And for some reason, after it concluded, we ended up dancing. On the stage.
The atmosphere around the room may be light, but motion sickness (and the dizziness and vomiting it causes) is quite the serious matter, as it can ruin a chunk of one’s journey. The main takeaway from the event was, you can ensure a winning travel experience when you keep motion sickness at bay. Hence, (in the words of Mr. Tito Tolentino) “Bonamine should be an essential part of every traveler’s journey.”.
